Suite101 earnings

SO- last month,Suite101 nnounced that one of our fellow writers had just about reached the $5000 mark for August Earnings (or was it July?) Either way- that’s so darned inspiring. We all guessed and estimated and stalked eachother out,and finally they announced who the lucky lady was. She was definitely on my short-list,being that her topic area is fraught with high cpc keywords. She’s a prolific writer, uploading 5-8 articles a week (on Suite101,that’s huge- the minimum commitment is 1 a week and most people only do that)

Here’s the kicker.

Her first article was December 13,2007 mine was January 12,2008.

So she’s only been there a month longer than I have.

As of today, she has 240 articles published and I have 126

So she writes twice as much as I do.

Due to a recent change in the Suite101 rules,we’re now allowed to say what we’re earning (up until now I’ve had to say things like “just over 500″and “almost 1000″)

Let me throw a few numbers at you, just because I can now!

My biggest day EVER at Suite 101 was $48.04 and last month,I had seven biggest days ever.

Last month I averaged 6.64 per article for the month (check out my last post where other writers were talking about getting 50 cents each)

Lena’s getting over $20 per article per month. So between her and all the whiners,my $6ish isn’t THAT impressive.

So- I’ll try to write more than I talk about writing now because I’m getting my ass kicked.

AND- one day I’ll upload a graphic image of my Suite earnings,it looks so cool in my spreadsheet.

  • Wow! $6.64 per article for the month is very impressive to me. Hopefully, you can catch up to the top writer. I just got started with Suite101 last week. Right now,I’m hoping to earn $1.00 per article per month. That would be great for me. Great job on the progress of your monthly residual income,I see that it has continued to steadily increase over the months. Do you really only put in 4-6 hours per month for revenue generating sites?

I know this is an old post, but I’ll comment anyway :) I averaged $5.35/article last month, but that was largely because of a cluster of 3 articles that took off,and were for a specific event. Now that that event is over,I’m averaging around $3.75/article/month for May.

Revenue earnings that high are NOT the average on Suite101. It typically takes 6 months to a year before most writers see monthly earnings of at least $100….and even then, most will need to have written 150 articles or more.

Also, the average writer works about 3-4 hours on a single article, thus after 100 articles, you’ve invested 300-400 hours of work…meaning it’ll take about 2-3 years before you’ll actually be earning money for the hours you’ve put in/.

    • Really,3-4 hours? I wonder where you get that number. Sure,my first 2 or 3 articles took 3 or 4 hours, but some of my most recent ones are taking anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour. Once you get the hand of keywording,it’s really not that difficult. Even if all of my articles took 4 hours to write,I’ve still made $15 an hour. But honestly,I haven’t spent 4 hours on an article for YEARS.

I’d like to see some real statistics from Suite101 about how long it takes people to reach payout (I reached the $10 threshold in my 2nd month) and have received a check (paypal) every month since then. I don’t see why,if you follow their SEO advice precisely,it would take any longer? I set up a blogspot blog in ten minutes the other day and earned $10 in about 6 days. It’s not rocket science, but it is a skill.
